“Erosion in protected marine areas could threaten plant and animal species and cultural heritage sites. Worldwide, the study found that 24 percent of the Earth’s sandy beaches are eroding, a coastline distance of almost 50,000 miles.”

So, the researchers used exactly this strategy to show an accurate representation of how much of Earth’s shorelines are beaches. They found that about a third (31 percent) of all ice-free shorelines is sandy or gravelly. Africa has the highest proportion of sandy beaches (66 percent) and Europe has the lowest (22 percent).

Another way to mitigate climate change is by employing the help of technology. This is exactly what NASA is trying to do by developing a global fire detection model.

Fossil fuels such as oil, gasoline and coal belong to the category of non-renewable resources. Someday, possibly within our lifetime, they will run out. It takes millions of years to create and they are harmful to the environment when burned.
On the other hand, renewable resources replenish themselves are constantly available. This includes air, water and sun energy. That is why more and more people are investing in solar panels, governments are creating wind turbine farms and inventors are developing various hydropower technology.
Charting a course towards renewable energy is the right strategy for our planet.
Wind power is “the fastest-growing energy resources in the world since 1990. Since wind turbines use the wind, a renewable resource of energy, to produce electrical energy” there is little to no effect on the planet. Moreover, wind turbines do not require water to operate.
Businesses, ordinary citizens and governments, especially in tropical countries, are investing in solar energy. The sun is a constant resource, day in, day out. Therefore, it is one of the easiest and most logical choices of renewable energy.
It is also one of the quickest and becoming a more accessible energy alternative for people in poverty-stricken countries as well.
